With new technologies you can make your organisation more client-oriented and flexible.
Digital transformation, however, is first and foremost about the power of imagination.
The power of imagination

Using innovation labs and concrete discovery tracks we stimulate your imagination.
As partner, TheValueChain is in the best position to see how SAP is constantly evolving with a clear vision of the future. With S/4HANA and the HANA Cloud Platform, SAP is building an exceptional technological environment for innovation, simplification and integration with other technologies. TheValueChain will help you discover this potential for your organisation.
Think outside the box within SAP
Thanks to sector expertise and an in-depth knowledge of SAP’s solutions landscape we will convert your implementation into a unique differentiator. With standard SAP we are breaking new ground. Beyond simple. You can hold us to that.
Is SAP Business ByDesign the way to go for you?
The cloud is transforming businesses in ways we could not have imagined, with technologies that SMEs didn’t even dare to dream of one decade ago. For ERP and CRM, SAP Business ByDesign is now setting new standards. Why is it different from classic on-premise solutions? And could BBD be the way to go for your company?
One of the first questions we often get as business process consultants is: ‘Isn’t SAP too sophisticated for us?’ Well, SAP Business ByDesign is definitely not. It is a comprehensive and complete ERP and CRM solution in the cloud without the fuzz of a classic on-premise ERP implementation. And here’s why.
From a customers’ point of view
The software-as-a-service model (SaaS) allows you to be on the latest release without having heavy, expensive and frightening updates and upgrades. Every quarter, both customers and partners are kept updated about the new features and functionalities – a few weeks prior to the real production upgrade. The content of the releases is not huge, so testing the core processes is sufficient (and necessary!) to prepare for the real production upgrade.
From a solution perspective, SAP Business ByDesign focuses on the customer and user by providing him tools to administer and fine-tune the system on his own. It offers strong functionalities like UI personalization, embedded reporting, KPI and dashboards, mash-ups and many more open boundaries. The embedded help center offers a unique guided support platform.
The product roadmap makes it easier to put developments on hold, and await standard implementation by SAP.
From a consultants’ point of view
The profile of a consultant involved in implementing SAP Business ByDesign is not so much technical. As the product is focusing on mid-market companies, the business aspect is primary. A SAP Business ByDesign consultant needs to be an all-rounder with a broad knowledge of business processes. He is capable of listening to the customer, and guiding him through the standard processes, features, scenarios and changes. These skills are much more valuable then knowing the technical features by heart, or how to apply an IT implementation methodology.
The consultant’s learning track can be fast. Gaining insight into most parts of the system is easy. Starting with SAP Business ByDesign can be a bit of a struggle, however, as system logic differs from what common ERP offers, and most consultants start from.
SAP offers a lot of tools to cope with growth pains and speed up the learning curve. But nothing beats real project experience.
For the record, SAP Business ByDesign is not a new and immature solution. SAP has been working on it for more than 10 years, and is leveraging on +40 years of software development experience for companies worldwide.
Is SAP Business ByDesign really the tool par excellence for mid-market companies – just like SAP positioned it early 2017? At TheValueChain we share that conviction. We are eager to see what will come in the next releases. Would you like to learn more about use cases, functional coverage or customer stories, or get a demo? We will be happy to help you!

Case story: P&V Elektrotechniek excited about SAP Cloud for Customer
P&V Elektrotechniek is replacing its existing CRM system with a user-friendly, mobile cloud solution – SAP Cloud for Customer Sales & Service (C4C). P&V Elektrotechniek designs and builds electrical control panels. They chose TheValueChain as their partner for the implementation.
Information available on the move
Roberto Musolino is Head of Business Development at the Limburg-based firm. He explains the decision to choose Cloud for Customer (C4C): “We have been working for years with a SAP CRM that we were happy with. But our requirement for storage capacity was growing, and the time was ripe to opt for a cloud solution. It was the integration with SAP that was decisive. C4C integrates seamlessly with our existing systems in SAP and Quick-Devis, an estimating tool.”
The user-friendly CRM in the cloud makes customer and product information more accessible. “C4C simplifies the complex interface of the old CRM and makes the information available on the move. So everyone has access to the latest data at all times.
Reception staff can inform customers better – via the web, telephone or social media. Sales reps detect new customers and sales opportunities more efficiently, on their iPad too. Thanks to the central overview of activities, managers are more aware of what is going on in the company.
Second time right
Unfortunately, the change-over to C4C was not plain sailing. The company teamed up with an SAP specialist that was not able to offer the desired result. “Our relationship did not work out, and we had to look for another partner. These things cost time and money, but fortunately TheValueChain came to the rescue,” says Roberto Musolino.
TheValueChain was able to meet the expectations. Their efficient solution included aspects that were not part of the standard solution. “Interaction and user-friendliness were greatly improved, a single press of a button is enough”, says Musolino. “The users are very satisfied.”
TheValueChain’s expertise and references in C4C Sales & Service were decisive for the choice of partner, but it was more than that. “We also liked the personal approach”, says Roberto Musolino. “They are not consultants who just do their job from 9 to 5. We never had the feeling that we were just a number. We got answers to our questions quickly – in urgent cases even in the evenings and at weekends.”
From the outset, TheValueChain showed that it was up to the job, says IT Manager Sarah Vangertruijden. “Their proposals were sound. They listened to what we needed, and we got exactly what we wanted. What is more, their consultants are great people to work with.”
TheValueChain completed the project in less than four months. “It all went smoothly”, says Sarah Vangertruijden. “There were no misunderstandings and we did not need many iterations – exactly the way it should be. That was reassuring after our previous experience.”
“Our CRM package is a living entity, the system will continue to grow. We will add more and more information, formulate different objectives and extract new reports”, says Roberto Musolino. He considers TheValueChain as a partner for future projects. “We were looking for a long-term relationship and now with TheValueChain we have found it.”
Eric Hassenberg on innovation
TheValueChain is in the best position to see how SAP is reinventing itself. From the huge range of products, we help you discover the innovation potential of your organisation.
“In every project, our motto is do more with less”, explains Eric Hassenberg, Solution Architect & Innovation Driver at TheValueChain. “After all, innovation is about simplifying things, not about the technological features and functions themselves. First we sit down with the client and look for relevance and business value. That exercise is easier if the client is up to speed on all the technical evolutions. As an SAP partner we play a key role in this process. By informing clients properly we can form co-innovative partnerships.”
Pressure to innovate
To innovate or not to innovate: does your company have a choice? “Not really”, says Eric Hassenberg, “because businesses that invest in digital innovation really stand out from those that don’t. They accelerate their supply chain processes and adapt easily when market conditions change. They serve their customers with simple processes, apps and fast mobile access to information.”
“The new reality is confronting old ERP systems with its limitations. That’s why SAP designed S/4HANA, a completely new suite of solutions based on a really simplified data model and in-memory technology. S/4HANA goes far beyond the traditional ERP and competing suppliers. It is a digital nerve centre designed for the integration of Internet of Things, big data, apps, business networks and third party systems. SAP makes its products future-proof without causing problems for existing customers. That’s why we completely believe in SAP.”
Designing processes around systems
“Still, we look beyond SAP, just like our clients. Sometimes a third party solution works better than SAP for a particular process. Many companies use a complex mix of on-premise and cloud-based solutions. For integrating the various building blocks, processes and systems, you will find the very best expertise at TheValueChain. Using Business Process Modelling (BPM) we design processes around SAP and other systems. And using Process Orchestration (PO) we seamlessly integrate SAP with non-SAP environments.”

SAP Fiori 5D Approach: personalize and simplify the user experience for SAP applications
SAP Fiori is the leading design for all SAP applications providing a harmonized user experience across on premise and cloud solutions. Using modern UX design principles, SAP Fiori delivers a role-based, consumer-grade user experience across all lines of business, tasks, and devices.
Apply the 5 Ds of our approach to Fiori, and you will create 5-star Fiori apps that will last
TheValueChain has developed a 5D Approach to SAP Fiori in order to help you define your needs, identify the gaps, implement standard apps, modify them if needed and design apps from scratch. It uses your business objectives and processes as a starting point, and focuses on the end-user.
- STEP 1: DEFINE. Describe your app’s objective, key differentiator, target audience and impact on how you work today.
- STEP 2: DISCOVER. Discover how to maximize simplification and user satisfaction. Build use case scenarios. Find out if standard Fiori apps can be considered for use. If yes, skip to step 5: deploy. If no, go to step 3.
- STEP 3: DESIGN. Create wireframes, visual designs, mock-ups, journey maps. Consult with your users. TheValueChain works in close partnership with usability and web design specialist Liftov. Take advantage of usability practices with regard to navigation & search, forms and user flows. These practices are not specific for Fiori app design: they can be applied in all your digital designs.
- STEP 4: DEVELOP. Develop the Fiori app and integrate it with your back-end system.
- STEP 5: DEPLOY. Deploy your Fiori app but not without thorough unit and integration testing.
